Ahhh, the Magic of this World.

by Cassie

I have just returned from a quick dip in the ocean at Boody Boody National Park. Apart from the water being gloriously refreshing, I was amazed how beautiful the scenery was. There was basically various shades of green and blue interupted by the white sand. I took several moments to consider how 200 years ago, majority of the Australian coastline would have had similar features. I then thought of the scar us humans have made on beaches like Surfers Paradise and started to cringe.

Have escaped the state

by Cassie

Well, yesterday I managed to ride over the border into New South Wales.  There were some hairy moments getting over the border as the roads were not designed for cyclists and we had traffic moving close to 100km/hr and 2 lanes merging at a similar rate with us stuck in the middle.  Anyway we managed to cross the highway with no incidences.

It's been nice spending time in Maryborough

by Cassie

Well,it's been nice spending time in Maryborough. It seems as though there is a bike culture here - especially bmx's. How pleasant it is to go to lock your bike and have an area dedicated for bicycles.

Have been sampling coffees and indulging in greasy fat chips. So far the coffees has been disappointing but the chips have been a delight.

My first touring experience

by Cassie

Well this is my first touring experience and I must say that I'm totally enjoying the experience.  Touring is something that I've entertained for a few years however I've always wanted someone to hold my hand as I've no idea around maintenance of a bicycle and would appreciate someone sharing the "tricks to the trade".

10 reasons why nuclear power IS NOT a solution to global warming.

The Cycle of Nuclear Foolishness

by Beck Pearse

Our friends at FoE Adelaide gave us some shrewd feedback about the name of the ride. The Nuclear fuel cycle is no cycle at all, but a chain of events that creates environmental destruction, waste and weapons. The term cycle is brought to us by the nuclear industry in an effort to portray it as some sort of recycling process. This prompted me to write a wee bit about the cycle we are really riding against.

The "Why I'm doing this" rant

by Evan Wills

Yesterday Georgie challenged me on why I wanted to be involved in the bike ride and why it was more important than any of the other really significant campaigns that I could be working on right now. (There are a lot of important campaigns that need support in the form of time, ideas, energy and passion.)

Chatting by the river

by Evan Wills

It's been a busy few days since the last meeting.

The last weekend we (Georgie, Beck and Squid and I) went down the South Coast for a couple of days. It was great to talk about the ride when we felt like it and not be pressed into a small time slot by other commitments.

We mainly discussed the how we were going to organise the ride in terms of decision making structures and about the focus of the ride.

About my Blog

by Evan Wills

This blog, while I'm part of the organisation crew, will be documenting thoughts and discussions I've had and actions taken by me relating to the organisation of the ride. It will probably be fairly dull but hopefully should mean I am personally redundant as a knowledge repository. It is most likely that only fellow organisers will be interested.

As I intend to document all my organisation activities, some of the entries will be restricted as they may not be appropriate for the public to see. Most registered users will be able to view those entries though.
