If you are concerned about insurance for when you're riding I recommend becoming a memeber of the peak cycling organisation in your state. Bicycle Qld, Bicycle NSW, Bicycle Vic and Bike SA all offer accident insurance for members who are injured while cycling.

Some of them even offer third party and/or third party property which might also be handy if you run into someone or something (I ran into the back of a car late last year when I was cycling to work. I wasn't a member of Bicycle NSW and so had to pay the $870 for the repairs myself). I'm now a member of Bicycle NSW.
