My first touring experience

Well this is my first touring experience and I must say that I'm totally enjoying the experience.  Touring is something that I've entertained for a few years however I've always wanted someone to hold my hand as I've no idea around maintenance of a bicycle and would appreciate someone sharing the "tricks to the trade".

So far this ride has been everything I've wished for and the food has been above standard.  I certainly feel quite confident and have been learning bike maintenance along the way.  Touring certainly allows for time of reflection as well as watching the slight changes in the landscape. 

So far I've been happy with how I've coped with the hills, sometimes having to get into granny gear but I'm still amazed in how I'm deceived by what looks like a hill to climb and yet I don't need drop down gears. I'm then amazed in how it looks like I'm going downhill and yet my legs feel that I can't keep up my cadence

As far as the campaign we have had a positive response from locals when we pull into town.  I'm glad that the reception from the Gladstone folk was more positive than I visited a few years ago whilst campaigning around climate change.

If your thinking of joining the ride I would really strongly encourage you to participate.  I do strongly suggest that you bring warm clothes for the evenings.  This is a great opportunity if you thought that you'd like to get into touring.  I certainly know that I'm addicted and am now feeling confident.
