Ahhh, the Magic of this World.by CassieI have just returned from a quick dip in the ocean at Boody Boody National Park. Apart from the water being gloriously refreshing, I was amazed how beautiful the scenery was. There was basically various shades of green and blue interupted by the white sand. I took several moments to consider how 200 years ago, majority of the Australian coastline would have had similar features. I then thought of the scar us humans have made on beaches like Surfers Paradise and started to cringe. The question that arose from this thought was, "have we learnt our lessons?" "Do we know how this planet works?" "Do I know what impact my lifestyle has on this planet?" "Do I know what our planet needs?" I don't know all the answers, however I do believe that we need to find a balance of benefiting from our planet provides eg. food, water, medicines, clothing etc. but we also have a responsibility to put something back into the ecosystem so that the planet also benefits. The latter I think humans in the first world need to work on. I have also been amazed in how I have manifested good-will from people that I've come in contact with. This good-will has affirmed that the energy I am putting into this journey is touching people in a way that they are inspired to give energy back to me and the rest of the group. I feel as though this ride is bringing out the best of me and that I'm getting glimpses of many beautiful people. So I'd like to take the opportunity to say thankyou to those people who have responded in such beautiful ways whether it is a smile or wave, creating a crane on Hiroshima Day, giving me an anti nuclear badge that is 20yrs old to take with me on my journey, providing chilled spring water during the heat of the day, let alone those people that have fed, sheltered and riden with us when we cruise into their community. For those people who are from my community, I'd also like to remind those people in Brisbane that the Walk Against Warming will be held on Saturday 25th August at 12:30pm, starting from Queens Park and going to Botanical Gardens, Riverstage. I was involved with the intial planning of this event, so I am keen to see the event be a powerful opportunity for the people of Brisbane to express their concerns about climate change. One of the messages that you may consider making is that "Nuclear Power is NO solution to Climate Change". Of course please be as creative and colourful as possible and remember to bring your umbrella. For all the other people, you will need to wait till its 2 weeks before the election. Its also time for people to start conversing with their MP's and other candidates about climate change and nuclear. Make them know that you want to make an informed vote at the federal election. Also make sure you are enrolled to vote as when Johny calls the elections, the enrolment roll will be finalised. Well now that I feel that I've got onto the soapbox, I might sign off and go back to enjoying the magic of this world. So please remember to respect our mother earth in all her magic.
