All new itinerary for the southern ride.

The itinerary for the southern ride has been completely reworked. The southern ride will now follow on from the northern ride and travel in the opposite direction.

The new dates are as follows:

There are a number of reasons for this so I'll outline them briefly:

  1. We only had one starter for Port Augusta (or Adelaide), which isn't enough.
    We did get another person put up their hand after we'd made the decision but still, 2 isn't enough either.
  2. There is an awful lot of work to do to organise even one ride. There are only four of us working on the primary organisation and we all work full time. So we decided to pool our resources and do each leg properly so we could achieve the best campaign outcomes.
  3. As we had so much trouble attracting interest for the southern ride we hope that by postponing the southern ride we will both get people who want to do the northern and the southern ride (like me but sadly I can't get five months off work) and get people who couldn't do the southern ride at the time due to other reasons.
  4. And lastly (this is not a reason but it's a good side effect) Beck, Georgina, Moz and I all really get along well so running the rides consecutively means we can all ride together.

We are VERY sorry if you were planning on coming on the southern leg but can't make it now. The decision to make such a radical change to the itinerary was a very hard one and one we discussed at length.

The northern leg of the ride will be awesome so you may want to consider coming up to meet us. If you do want to come on the northern ride and start out with us at Rockhampton, there are still places on the bus from Sydney. Tickets are $160 each but we need to know this week.

Note: We will update all the print resources over the next couple of days so hold off printing till later in the week.
